STARS Reveals $100,000 Point Fund for 10-Race Super Late Model Series in 2023

Macon, IL (November 1, 2022) - A significant message to competitors and fans has been delivered regarding  the STARS National Series for 2023.  Series officials confirmed today a $100,000 points fund for a 10-race schedule for the inaugural season for the Super Late Model series.

The initial announcement was made Friday by Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent during an official meeting with drivers, team owners and other crew members during the All American 400 weekend at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in TN.

“We were trying to get the right number of races without exhausting our staff, the promoters and the teams,'' explained Sargent.  “We settled on 10 to allow the teams a professional number of races to where they can market their own team, but manage it well from a logistical and monetary standpoint.

“We also wanted to provide the teams with something to shoot for at the end of the 10-race national series and that’s why we are offering a minimum $100,000 point fund.  Depending on what we are able to put together we could actually add to that, but that was a good starting point to allow everyone to know how serious we are.”

The meeting was also a chance for teams to inform the series staff of items they would like to see improved in 2023, including aspects surrounding tires.

“There is no doubt that I need to learn more about the compounds, the materials that are in the compounds and the side walls.  I need to get more technical so that I can understand why some guys are unhappy with the tires they currently compete with,” Sargent said.  “We know the pricing, that’s always a given, but given the reaction tonight, I think it’s more of some other issues they are not happy with.

“We are going to learn more about Hoosier (Racing Tire) and the other tire companies' opinions on how to fix these issues.  Some of the teams believe that the tire compounds currently being used need to be examined due to the newer-style cars that are being raced.  I’ve worked with tire companies in the past to help with things like this.   I promise we will start an in-depth research process with the tire companies and see what we come up with to better serve the racers.”

It was also announced by STARS National Series Operations Director that the 10-race schedule will consist of three races from each of the regional tours, the ARCA / CRA Super Series, the ARCA Midwest Tour and the Southern Super Series.  The championship event will be the All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

A full schedule for the 2023 STARS National Series, as well as broadcast details, will be announced soon.

An additional competitors meeting is currently being scheduled for the week of the Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis in December.
